We're always excited by the opportunity to do something new, especially when such an opportunity allows us to further empower leaders. Throughout the year, we host Rejoice Project retreats, but this most recent retreat was different. Hear the what this retreat, which happened last week, was like from one of our staff, Mary London. Enjoy!
This week looks completely different than anything we’ve experienced with Journey or Rejoice Project. Just as we have all summer, we’re partnering up with one another one last time.
To date, Choose to Invest has hosted four different retreats where Rejoice Project team members come together from different communities for a chance to be further discipled and and personally empowered in the project they facilitate each week. Each retreat we’ve seen God open eyes and change hearts solely by bringing different tribes, languages, and cultures together under one roof. Without fail, perspectives are changed, horizons are broadened, and collaboration kicks in. Time at the retreats is spent sharing ideas, learning new curriculum, hearing about each communities struggles and successes, worshipping, praying, and spending time together. Everything about a Rejoice Project retreat is carefully thought out, planned, and executed by our three Rejoice Project coordinators, Paul, Peter, Harun, and the Rejoice Project Manager, Johannes. Rejoice Project retreats are always a highlight for us because of the mighty work God does simply by bringing people together in unity and collaboration.
That’s just a tiny glimpse into the reason why we are so excited about the retreat that is happening right now. These leaders have been given the amazing opportunity to be part of our first ever Rejoice Project alumni retreat. Although aspects will be the same as the other retreats, there is a lot that is different. The Rejoice Project team members from the communities have already been apart of a retreat before. These specific leaders have been involved with Rejoice Project for a long time, yet continue to invest passionately in the next generation in their own communities. These leaders have spent time with Journey all summer, yet are eager to spend even more time with their new friends aside of the time they invest in their communities, deeply pouring into our Journey interns' lives. These leaders know full and well what Rejoice Project is and why they do it, yet they have a desire to learn more and to see it grow and even see our interns go home changed.
The biggest difference in this retreat is that Journey has been given the gift of being there. As the Body of Christ, we have the opportunity to gather together once more before we all head to our respective homes. Journey interns have the opportunity to learn more about what Rejoice Project looks like day in and day out for our Rejoice Project team members here. These interns get to dive in deeper to the work that God is doing in communities all across the country. These interns have been given the chance to spend more time with new friends that live on the other side of the world. These interns are able to encourage their brothers and sisters to keep walking, keep investing, and keep their eyes fixed on Jesus.
Something eternally sweet happens when different tribes, tongues, and nations come together under one roof with one purpose for the glory of one God.

As our Journey interns travel home, please join us in lifting up these Rejoice Project team members in prayer as God continues to take all of them deeper in their personal walks with him. While this summer has certainly been a highlight for many of them, we are even more excited about what God has in store for the coming months.
