“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it well.” Psalm 139:14
Dancing, singing, laugher, shouts of joy, children excitedly running from classroom to classroom - it’s a scene that cannot do anything but make you smile at the good work happening in that moment, at that school, in those children’s lives. Imagine the home-coming happening on those grounds as children are joyfully brought before their eternally-thrilled Father. It’s something that cannot be lost in translation, the words “Jesus loves you.” Simple, yet earth-shattering. Short, yet ever-flowing. Quick, yet eternally sufficient.
Seeing classrooms full of children, hundreds of children, squeezing tightly together on wooden desks, rejoicing in their own uniqueness brings me a joy and proudness like nothing else. It’s in those moments that I see rooms of sons and daughters awakened to their true purpose in life. In fact, even seeing those teaching brings me joy. As our Journey interns partner with Rejoice Project team members in hosting Rejoice Project Camps, I get to see each of these leaders personally walk through the virtue they are teaching, because “uniqueness” is not just something possessed by these children. It’s true of all of God’s children.
I’ll never lose my love of Rejoice Project Camps and the life-altering change they offer in these communities. I cannot think of any better way to change a community than to empower the next generation of leaders in the God-given gifts they all possess. It’s foundational work and what’s planted takes time to develop, but when this harvest is ready it doesn’t come back void. No, it comes packing force, fully-blooming in original beauty.
“Blessed be the God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” Ephesians 1:3-4
Jesus, grant us the strength, courage, and equipping to step into the fully-unique selves you have created us to be, so that we would be a living, breathing, ever-loving people. Giving praise and glory always back to you, Jesus. Amen.
