Introducing: Shirley

We are thrilled to welcome back Shirley  as a part of the Journey Summer Staff team! Shirley was a Journey intern this past summer, and is truly one of the wisest people I know. Shirley isn't afraid to allow the Lord to speak through her, and spiritual maturity is evident to everyone who knows her. I am more than confident that Shirley will lead and love the J2014 girls boldly and fearlessly.
Hey there Journey! My name Shirley and I am currently a freshman at the University of Iowa, majoring in Social Work and minoring in Spanish. I am so looking forward to getting know each and every one of you better, and watching you all grow and be challenged this summer.
I am working as summer staff with all of you this year for the same reason that you are a part of Journey 2014. God called me and He chose me, just as He chose each and every one of you. I am just so excited to see the ways that I know The Lord will use you this summer in the lives of each other, and in the lives of our Kenyan brothers and sisters. He is big enough to use you in ways that surpass your wildest dreams. That is the God that we serve!
In this season of fundraising and preparation, I invite you to lean in and be present even now. It is easy for me to look ahead to Journey and dwell on what is to come, but that is not the life that The Lord has called us to. He is doing big things everywhere, and that includes you right now. That includes your campuses, churches, families, and communities.
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine…You are my witnesses. You’re my handpicked servant… Be alert. Be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.” – Isaiah 43 MSG
