Vision is a funny thing. Some days a God-birthed vision provides so much excitement that your chest swells and your mind is consumed with dreams of what could be and the how-to’s of getting there. Other days it seems as if years of effort barely makes a smudge, let alone a dent in the bigger picture of where God is leading you. If you’re not careful, you can easily be swept away in the striving, strategizing, discouragement so willingly offered up from bystanders, and the cost of devoting the work it takes to aim in the direction of a God vision.
When God breathes vision, we are faced with the choice of offering him a polite “thank you anyway” and quietly walking in the other direction, or rallying the troops and redirecting focus as we buckle up for what is promised to be a life-long journey with Him.
God blessed me with a wife and community who were all willing to jump on board with the vision He gave us for reaching generations:
A global discipleship movement that transforms lives, spiritually empowers generations, and restores communities back to God.
I am wrapping up a week in East Africa with some of the men and women who have been impacted by, and are now impacting thousands more because of this vision. These men and women have become brothers and sisters to me and the growing CTI family. We’ve prayed, shared challenges, studied the bible, planned, and fellowshipped over meals together this week. God has united our hearts around this vision and here is what I love about that most:
It’s not my vision and it doesn’t belong to anyone else involved in working it out. This vision belongs solely to Jesus Christ. because it is his vision. He walked it out with more grace and effectiveness than we ever will, and ultimately through His death and resurrection he overcame every obstacle in our way.
Jesus is the example and today He is still leading the way.
- He brings about transformation in the lives of the people we teach his truths.
- He is empowering generations to grow and lead spiritually as we disciple them and ask them to do the same for others.
- He is bring about restoration in the communities where men and women from different tribes and denominations are finding unity and community in him through our projects.
In all that we do at CTI, the most important aspect of obtaining a Kingdom-building vision is following Jesus. The truth is, the times we are most effective is when we put all the to-do lists and agendas down, and we spend time seeking his face so that we might know him more… so that we can make him known to those around us.
I am humbled and blessed that I have the opportunity to walk out my faith in Jesus with my beautiful wife, children, family, friends and CTI family across the nations. My prayer for our family and CTI today is, and may it always be, Jesus, let us keep our eyes on you so that we may come closer every day to fulfilling the vision you’ve placed so heavily on our hearts and give us the privledge and honor of carrying it to the nations and generations.
Your promises oh Lord are written in your word. If we will be faithful to renew our mind in your truth, you will change the way we and others think. Let us continue to teach your word so you will transform lives. Because of your love, oh God, we will be strengthened from the inside out and you will do immeasurably more in and through us and those we disciple than we can ever imagine. You promise us oh Lord, oh Lord that if we will humble ourselves, pray, seek your face and turn from our ways, you will hear from heaven and will forgive our sins and restore our lands
May you continue to use CTI to transform lives globally, may you use us to spiritually empower the generations across nations, may you restore your people back to yourself.
"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wick ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Honored to carry the vision,
