Psalms 139:3. ”You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am.”
For the past several years, Choose to Invest has taken a week long sabbath. This is a week where we stop all pouring out of ministry, and pause together. Over the past few years it has become something we look forward to not because it is a time to take a break, but instead a time to reflect, refuel, praise and ultimately confess that we can’t, but He can.
Throughout the year we spend a lot of time on planes, bumpy roads, in tents, in foreign lands, and with a lot of different illnesses due to the nature of our work. Hours upon hours are spent in the word of God, reading books, listening to peoples stories. Our hope is that we would be used by God to disciple others and pour out in hopes that God would then ultimately use us to transform lives, empower generations and restore communities back to himself. We pray that God would use us as a poured out offering.
We desire for our ministry to be an overflow of what God is doing first in our own lives. Because of that we recognize the value yearly and collectively to stop and ask God to fill us back up not for the intent to be used but just to commune, to value our relationship with him and to drink from the fountain that never runs dry. We desire deeply to be in relationship with God because he is God. He is our Father, our creator, our redeemer, our restorer, our healer, our help, our love. We desire to know him more, we desire to see more of his heart and character and we recognize the gift of doing so. This season for us is necessary and has become the foundation of our outpouring. Sabbath keeps us journeying on in a healthy way, putting Jesus at the forefront and center of everything, and discipling ourselves to keep our eyes fixed on him.
It is a time to pause and celebrate all God allowed us to be a part of. It is a time to recognize his holiness and humble ourselves before him in silence and prayer. It is a time to be still. As we are finishing out this past ministry season we have been allowed to be a part of, we recognize that God has taken us on one beautiful journey.
In this past season of ministry we have been blessed to be a part of a God sized story including 7 Rejoice Project Camps, 3 Rejoice Leadership Retreats, thousands of miles driven to disciple villages, more than half of the year living with college interns through our internships and Journey, and 100+ days providing lodging, daily meals, and structure to our interns and friends we disciple in Africa. We are blessed.
So in this season we are carving out space and time to rest, reflect, and be. To lift up our eyes, to remember who is in control all of the time. We are listening, we are leaning in and we are delighting in God.
Our offices will be closed for the week of August (4th-8th).
We ask that you join us in prayer as we spend this invaluable time soaking up all God has for our team both in the US and Africa and as we spend time listening in preparation for our next ministry seasons. We are confident God will meet us here and lead us well.
