Let the Journey begin.

As I sit and listen to Kristin and Nathanael Avery narrate the beginnings of Choose to Invest and the Journey Internship to our Journey 2013 interns, I am reminded of the beautiful season the Lord took me through last summer as a Journey 2012 intern. I clearly remember sitting on the couch at the Avery’s the morning after the welcome party, wondering if I was really going to find community amongst these strangers, and if the Lord was really going to meet me in the unique way that my discipleship leaders told me He would. A year later, I sit and watch 19 interns in the exact same place (actually, on the exact same couch)- with so many questions and with a deep amount of expectancy. This morning, I can’t help but be reminded of the Lord’s faithfulness to surpass all of the questions and doubt I had, a year ago today, on my Journey. Because of HIS faithfulness, I am confident that He has each and every one of these interns in this living room this morning for a great purpose, and as a staff we wait with a great amount of excitement and expectancy to see how the Lord works in these next few days. photo-1

Yesterday, Choose to Invest staff, alumni, and board of directors gathered to prepare a home and gathering to welcome the Journey 2013 interns and their families. After months of conference calls, packing, and preparation, the interns arrived, ready to experience God in a new way and in a new community this summer. Last night we celebrated the beauty of not only what God is going to do this summer in Kenya, but also what he has already done here in the United States in the lives of the interns and their families. The night ended with a powerful prayer, led by the Choose to Invest board of directors, over everyone involved with Journey this summer. It was a beautiful night, and an incredible way to usher the J2013 interns into the wild adventure the Lord has prepared for them this summer.

Today is filled with rich curriculum and teaching led by our CTI staff.  The seats that have been being prepared over the next few weeks are finally being filled, and we couldn't be more excited to hit the ground running this morning. Please be praying for our interns today as they prepare for the journey to Camp Highland and then to Kenya. Pray that their hearts would be teachable, and that they would be met with immense amounts of peace and confidence as we head into these next few days. Thank you for journeying along side us this summer. We are truly blessed by the investment so many of you have already made in these interns.
