Havilla Take Two

Another great day in Nairobi! Our Journey team was able to spend another day with our friends at Havilla. Today we spent quality time with each of the children teaching them about Individuality. There were special times of teachings, crafts, and games that were all purposed to communicate how unique God had made each of them and how special they were in his eyes. Adorned in crowns, with smiles from ear to ear, we had a great day filled with the joy of community only Christ can give!

Even today, I had the blessing of being able to take a short journey with some former Daraja Children's Chior members. We spoke about what God was teaching us, about their experiences in the US, and what is on the horizon of our futures. However, after all these things I asked them if they had any advice for me as I go home to the United States, and I would like to share with you what one of them told me.

When you go home, never forget the importance of the advancement of the Gospel. All things have value, but if it is without Christ it is nothing.

These are the words of a 17-year-old African young man and he spoke with with more wisdom then I can muster myself. I am stunned by the "aliveness" of Christ in this young man, and he gave me something to share with you today. As Journey continues to spread Christ's love in East Africa, who do you have around you that needs to hear the good news? You are the light of the world; the bearer of true living water that all men thirst and need.

At the end of our day we were able to go hand-in-hand with the children of Havilla to plant flowers and bushes on the property. Journey 2012 has left their imprint on Havilla, and future Journeys will be able to observe the landscaping as it takes hold of good soil and grows in strength and stature. Though small now, they will soon be large and strong - able to stand on their own. What a parellel to the seed we were able to sow today, and we pray that it falls on favorable soil and takes hold.

And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 4:8-9.
